Recycling Pioneers…
Staiman Brothers, Inc. has
been in business for 106 years.
Transcending four generations of Staimans. In 1900, Kalman and Jacob Staiman realized a need for recycling in the Williamsport, Pennsylvania area and founded Staiman Brothers. At that time, the company specialized in the processing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and wastepaper. In October of 1996, Staiman Brothers, Inc. spun off a new company, Staiman Recycling Corporation. Staiman Recycling Corporation served the needs of the ferrous and non-ferrous recycling and processing industry. Staiman
Brothers, Inc. continues to serve the paper recycling
industry.
As the need for recycling has grown, so has Staiman. Modern equipment has replaced much of the manual labor used for processing in the early 1900's.
Staiman persevered through fires and floods, and continues to
expand. Therefore in 1955 constructed its current facility at 201 Hepburn Street, Williamsport, Pennsylvania. At its second facility, located
in the west end of Williamsport, Newberry Pennsylvania. Railroad materials are sorted and
processed for resale to rerolling mills, foundries and other specialty consumers.
Over the past century, our company has consistently supplied customers with quality material by processing
thousands of tons of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and wastepaper each year. We utilize various types of equipment including balers for both metal and paper, cranes, front-end loaders, forklifts,
Bobcats/Skidsteers, a railbreaker, roll-off containers for serving the industry as
well as a modern and efficient transportation fleet. Recently, we added a 1,000-ton hydraulic guillotine shear to complement our existing 500-ton hydraulic guillotine and
a 1,300-ton mobile
Genesis shear to process steel for shipments to our consumers throughout
the eastern United States, Canada and overseas. Additionally, both
facilities - Williamsport and Newberry - have active rail service.
